According to the article it’s a issue that seems to mainly affect English speaking countries UK, US, and Canada. How odd.

The anglosphere’s toxic political preoccupations are killing us earlier and making the day-to-day lives of it’s citizens unhealthier.

Drugs are so normalised to the point I’d say 75% of people I know around my age have tried cocaine.

Go into any pub/bar toilet on a Friday or Saturday night and you will likely find someone doing it in the toilet too.

No idea how Reddit sorts this but for me, the next post is one from an American point of view showing a range of countries, life expectancy and healthcare spending. That shows the UK in the middle of a closely packed group, mostly European with the US separate and doing really poorly.

Each country paints itself in the worst light possible.

Is it any wonder? We are spiritually and morally bankrupt. The 99% are also bankrupt monetarily. Our leaders can’t hide their disdain for us, they couldn’t care less.
We are more alone, secluded and cut off from ourselves and others than ever, we are a atomised society. In it for ourselves and ourselves plus our brothers and sisters. I love this country and I think us Brits are good people by and large, we have a lot of good qualities.

Having said that something needs to change, the road we are going down now will lead to disaster. The only way is to do this on a one by one basis, we need to change our relationship with ourselves.

I genuinely got shouted at by the owner of a bar for daring to take a piss in the snorting room at the pub. I’m not surprised at the increase of deaths from drugs

I’m more shocked the gov haven’t just decriminalised it ngl. They don’t seem to give a fuck about users or the environments they’re in but seem hell bent on arresting weed smokers

Never heard of anyone dying from weed but nice to see it classed as a class B when it can be found on every council estate in this country and “community policing” means smokers get told to F off but dealers get ignored until “intelligence” gather 10+ months of evidence to guarantee they plead guilty but what’s the point when the sentencing is a joke lol

What a funny lil island we are.

It is noticeable that drug use, alcohol abuse and obesity are a lot more prevalent here than where I’ve been in mainland Europe.

It’s quite sad how we seem to have lost the knowledge and ability to take care of ourselves.

The cocaine and lager generation is reaching middle age now, with the heart, lung, and liver diseases that go with it.

The UK isn’t wealthy, when you start with a false premise you never fix the problem

gender neutralising a famous phrase like that is so goofy. it’s like calling a boat ‘she’. the meaning is kind of lost when you change it.
