      Wrong headline. It should read

“Teacher loses dismissal case over unauthorised access and copying of confidential records.”

    2. > A Christian teacher who was sacked **after accessing a transgender child’s safeguarding report and transcribing it to her personal computer** has lost an unfair dismissal and religious discrimination claim.

Bolded the important parts. It’s odd that the BBC ran with the headline ‘Teacher loses dismissal case over trans pupil row’, and not ‘Teacher loses dismissal case after illegally accessing and copying student’s personal information’. I guess the former, especially with the tell-tale weaselly term ‘row’, riles up the transphobic readership the BBC have busily been trying to cultivate.

The only thing that’s really surprising me is that the BBC didn’t find a way to sneak in a quote by the ‘LGB Alliance’ or ‘For Women Scotland’…

      > The teacher, who cannot be named and has been referred to as A, refused after being asked by the Nottinghamshire County Council-run school to refer to the child with a male name and pronouns at the parents’ request.

      > She was suspended from her role as a teacher in September 2021 as a row over how she should refer to the child continued.

      > A year later – after briefly returning to teach at the school – she was sacked after the school discovered she had been accessing the child’s private files.

So let’s just clarify: this teacher bullied a child, was suspended, then when they returned they decided to access this child’s private files? What an unpleasant individual.

      > After concerns were first raised by the teacher, Child X was moved to another class in the same year group “to safeguard him from any potential harm”, the school said.

It’s kind of wild that a teacher can treat a child in this way, and the school’s first response is to… move the child to a different class. They only suspended the teacher *after* she kept escalating this.

Obviously extremely wrong and illegal on multiple levels.

I think it is key to note that the claimant was represented by Pavel Stroilov who ‘consults’ for the Christian Legal Centre, who will basically support any person who decides that the consequences of their ghastly actions against the LGBTQ+ community is discrimination which is how the tribunal ended up with a bundle fast approaching 1000 pages.
