Fortunately he can press to have that offer reviewed without risking losing that offer.
It’s funny isn’t it. If I stole from someone part of the settlement would be that I have to pay it back. I should become a post office or a bank, then I could steal and face no consequences.
The postmasters need to get what they’re owed, I just don’t understand why this hasn’t started with a full investigation into every executive the Post Office has had since the Horizon contract was signed, and every one of them you can prove knew it was dodgy is taken to court and sued. Especially those who knew of the problems AND that the prosecutions were based on no facts at all.
It can’t be right that the victims are still asking for what was extorted from them while the thieves who took it – knowing they were in the wrong to do so – get to keep the bonuses they got from collecting all this money, not to mention their wages from the time they ran what amounts to a conspiracy IMO
Putting aside how contemptible this whole process is, how thick do they need to be to continue to try to fuck with this guy?
Any (all) of the others, and it’d end up being a fairly small story, but you don’t continue to mess around with the guy who’s become a household name
You don’t tug on Superman’s cape
You don’t spit into the wind
You don’t pull the mask off that old lone ranger
And you don’t mess around with Sir Alan Bates
Was this involving a certain law firm that was mentioned in private eye recently?
Sir Alan Bates, who led the 20-year campaign for justice for post office operators over the Horizon scandal, has revealed he has been handed a “take it or leave it” compensation offer of less than half his original claim.
> The 70-year-old, who was knighted last year, has accused the government of presiding over a “quasi-kangaroo court” system for the compensation.
They should pay the man a bonus or double for being successful to fight against a Goliath and come out a winner. This would encourage more whistle blowing and justice…
Are the Post Office negotiating for a second season here?
It’s ridiculous that this is still dragging on. They should have had their original money paid back to them with interest and then compensation on top of that. There might be a few people who actually did steal money, but that surely is a very low percentage. It has been proven that there was a fault with the software, so why is there still a hold up.
Remember – this is a choice the government has made. Starmer et al could fix this today if they wanted to.
