Most airlines would likely say the same if they even still over it.

When I was young it was fear mongering of the ozone layer etc nonsense bs is all this is to begin with the notion to pass off the cost constantly to us the public will always be a thing make us feel guilty about it not the focus but we sure will make it about us even when it’s the corporations that should burden this off sets.

Most consumers only care about cheap air fares, that’s all. Myself included

it was greenwashing to begin with and their servers for booking will burn a few less CPU cycles with the removal.

Search engines like [Booking.com](http://Booking.com) already show flights from Ryanair as the environmentally friendliest airliners due to the low CO2 footprint of their operation.

    5. Because they were fake anyway, you can’t offset the huge emissions of a flight for €1.

And besides, who would trust that Ryanair would even spend any of it on offsetting.

Who’d have thought that people don’t want to pay extra for green bullshit.

      Real shocker there.

We live on an island. Ferries are infrequent. And the chattering classes like to vilify one of our most successful homegrown companies, even to the extent of promoting a multinational like IAG Ireland over it.

I mean, it was BP that coined the term “carbon footprint”: [https://interestingengineering.com/culture/carbon-footprint-coined-by-big-oil-to-blame-you-for-climate-change](https://interestingengineering.com/culture/carbon-footprint-coined-by-big-oil-to-blame-you-for-climate-change)

Meanwhile, plastic and fabric waste is being bulk shipped to African countries and they are forced to burn it to get rid of it, instead of billionaire companies actually investing in the future.

That whole thing is pointless. It’s a greenwashed option that doesn’t do anything. The emissions happen. The offset part is not helping. It’s at best money spent to buy some green credits or whatever.

When my €20 flight from Ireland to Belgium gets to €150 by the time I reach the checkout I think Ryanair can foot the offset bill themselves.

Carbon offsetting is the 21st century version buying indulgences.
