      We actually had Palpatine as a City Council deputy. Though it may seem like some prank, it’s actually a scheme from bigger parties to get an advantage during elections.

      It was political technology for discredit election in Ukraine by making shit show out of it so less people decided to participate in it. Glad this technology wasn’t successful, but nothing fun actually.

      It’s called a spoiler candidate.

      Yanukovich’s party was trying to win election, by drawing pro-Ukrainian statistically younger voters to vote for meme as a reflection of their dissatisfaction with normal politics.

      You can see a similar effect being used in US politics, where large groups (like proactive left youth) are actively suppressed, by making them disillusioned by politics in general.
