By Theo Burman – Live News Reporter:

Some of the largest airlines in Europe have sounded the alarm on declining demand for flights to the U.S.

Bosses at Delta, Air France-KLM and Lufthansa all noted that trans-Atlantic flights, which make up a significant chunk of their revenue, had become less popular in the first quarter of the Trump administration.

That fall is not big enough. Those are rookie numbers, anything less than 50% drop is a fail. The only way the americans will learn is by hitting them in their wallets.

I mean yeah, as someone who flew back to the States in December 2024, January 2025, April 2025, and just now, the amount of empty seats on the transatlantic flights has increased significantly. I don’t even book seats anymore because I’m guaranteed to get an empty row in the back every time.

      >Responding to the decline, Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian told *The Sunday Times:* “There’s a political question in the U.S. around immigration, but we need to make certain that people feel comfortable coming here.”

What a fool. Even if you’d pamper my arse on Qatar Air luxury style, there’s no fucking way I’m going to go to the US and risk getting detained *for weeks* only to be deported afterwards. He can blather all he wants, what matters is what the US administration is doing.

      > The deregulatory theme really hasn’t come into play yet. We’re a capitalist society and we believe we should compete for consumers, not have the government tell us how to compete.

I literally laughed until I cried at this.

What a surprise that Europeans don’t want to visit a semi-hostile country which seemingly randomly denies entry for normal tourists and visitors

Go back about a month and dig around for those postings, that claimed nothing had changed in terms of Europeans and going to the USA. This is really entertaining, how they now turn all the sudden and accept reality.

Just read the comments on online advertisements about flights to the US in social media – if commenting is enabled.

I think the numbers will just increase. It will be interesting to see how the numbers look in Autumn/Winter. A lot of people buy transatlantic tickets 6 months out so I have friends who bought tickets for this summer in December/January for this summer.

Who tf whats to go to to the US these days.
After a year or so when trump is gone, then maybe

    11. Ordinary-Switch5144 on

I’m not seeing that in prices that’s for sure. Flying Europe to US through end of year, especially summer, is still >$1000 in basic economy. Whine on!

Also good for the climate.. so let so for 0% boyzz.. we can do it

I was just on a Med cruise and while talking with other passengers about travel, more than a few mentioned that while the US is a fantastic country with lovely people and great places to see, they were not comfortable going there right now.

    14. AlwaysDrunk1699 on

Why would you travel to the US right now and risk a few weeks of detention.

    15. Additional-Noise-195 on

Visiting Mexico soon, but I haven´t booked a flight yet.

But: It´s already agreed in the family that flights with a layover in the US are not acceptable. Might just pay the few bucks extra and avoid Visa-Fees and the risk to end up in a detention camp because i filled out a form incorrectly

    16. Perhaps Trump made the US too “great”? /s

In all seriousness, traveling to the US has been dodgy for years, even under the previous administrations. Every time I travelled to the US, I made sure to bring an old / empty / burner phone, because border patrol has the mandate to search your phone if they want to. I’m glad it hasn’t happened to me. But knowing this is a practice that the US does and knowing that the orange fascist is in the white house, why take any chances? Perhaps they read this very message on my phone and detain me for it.

    17. MaximePierce on

Well I would probably be detained and then transported back (if I do not get transported to some foreign prison), for having a descrepancy between my birth gender and the gender on my passport. So yeah… not gonna risk that

    18. wolowbolob on

Might be thrown into guantanamo bay because i have a beard lmao. Gtfo with going to america as long as the maga people are in power.

    19. Flying to Canada on Wednesday. No way was I going to transit through the States even if it worked out cheaper.. Having to take a burner phone and running the risk of them looking at my social media comments about the tango toddler ruled that out.

I am European and just visited the US for fun/vacation.

It was absolutely no problem and the same as always. The immigration officer asked 2-3 questions and that was it. I was traveling just with ESTA.

I don’t know if it matters, but I have visited the country 7 times in the last 10 years. Perhaps this is taken into account by the immigration officer?

    21. nora_sellisa on

Yeah no, I’m not getting randomly sent to a gulag because I criticized Trump on Reddit.

    22. mumwifealcoholic on

No thanks, the US and Trump with his imbecile supporters can go fuck themselves.

    23. Primary-Structure-41 on

Yeah, fuck em, there are much more friendlier countries to visit. My apologies to all the good Americans.
