Se ricordi, Imagine Dragons si esibiva in Azerbaigian nel settembre 2023, durante quando Artsakh era bloccato e affamato, così come i registri dei diritti umani e tutto il resto. Serj Tankian di System of a Down ha presentato una petizione pubblica per mesi, prima dell’evento, in cui Imagine Dragons ha ignorato tutto e alla fine ha dato una risposta.

Ha rinunciato alla bandiera palestinese, che per essere onesti, non lo sto contestando, ma cosa è successo alla sua filosofia che ha discusso quando le nostre oltre 100.000 persone erano bloccate e affamate?
Ha detto che non voleva "Punire i fan per i loro governi"questa era la sua scusa per rimanere in silenzio con gli armeni che sono affamati, ma qui sta facendo una dichiarazione politica sul palco.
Si scopre che si schiera dei lati, non solo per noi.

Vedo i difetti nella mia discussione qui, in un certo senso è un whataboutism, ma non sto davvero cercando di mettere a tacere quello palestinese. Avrebbe potuto almeno fare un commento quando ha rinunciato alla bandiera palestinese e ha detto di aver sbagliato a esibirsi in Azerbaigian o ricordare armeni, ma niente.
L’unica conclusione che posso trarre qui è che non vede le vite armena come uguali. Parlerò per sempre merda di questa band.
Inoltre, per favore, astenersi dal trasformare questo argomento in argomento Palestina-Israele, indipendentemente dal fatto che ciò che sta accadendo a Gaza sia deliberato o no, il punto qui è ciò che Image Dragons crede nella loro testa e nelle loro azioni.

“Taking sides” or making political statements has nothing to do with depriving their fans because of the government. Two totally different things. This is not double standards.
Yup I saw this too. I wasn’t surprised at all. I remember they defended their decision to play in Azerbaijan but not for Russia bc Russia invading Ukraine was wrong. As opposed to Armenians who are apparently not people. I remember Serj Tankian calling them out so they have no excuse for this “but but we didn’t know” infantilizing.
Mostly, I’m not surprised because they are white liberal Christians. Many white American liberal Christians have a very weird racism and social justice “activism” problem where their activism is centered on their virtue signaling instead of the victims of atrocities. It’s only a step down from the “we’ll feed starving African babies after we convert them to Mormonism”. This is the same line of thought, just “woke”-washed. It’s performative activism at its best. They know that they benefit off of jumping on trendy issues. They would never risk doing something ACTUALLY unpopular because this isn’t about the marginalized, it’s about THEM.
They’re no different from the “bad white Christians” they claim to hate for homophobia. Their mentality is “I got mine, f**** yours”, to put it lightly.
I’d say God sees all but who am I kidding? We know these people aren’t actual Christians or truly religious. They’re virtue signalers whose faith/activism is based on power. Anything for a good power dynamic that strokes their ego and gives them attention.
I don’t disagree with your reasoning, but they go on my metaphorical shitheap, reasons or not. I don’t really care about their fans or whom they are depriving. Even if they have tender feelings for their fans, they still go on the shitheap.
