If you worked in an office and were actively pushing your OnlyFans account on your social media and online public presence, your employeer would have a right to tell you to stop, if your public / social profile is clearly linked to your place of work / mentions your place of work or you have a public facing role at your place of work (e.g. you are a spokesperson or board member).
This is the same principle. He is a canoeist and part of Team GB and also check out my spicy pics – you can’t associate your sport and employer (who give him money/a grant) with things they don’t want to be associated with in that way.
Really baffles me that it’s considered shameful or wrong to make a living using your body to sell pics, but absolutely fine to use your body in tough physical jobs like warehouse work, slaving away 50 hours a week for minimum wage in a shit job that damages your body and harms your mental health.

I don’t really see how he thought he’d be able to do both, maybe he didn’t know this rule existed. But it doesn’t take much sporting knowledge to think that bringing your sport into some sort of disrepute won’t be looked too kindly on?

At the end of the day the feller is an adult. We don’t live in a puritan society. He should be allowed to do what he wants with his body. If he appeared in a copy of *Sports Illustrated*, which releases an explicitly sexual swimsuit edition every year, I doubt Paddle UK would bat an eyelid. Yet because he has an OnlyFans Paddle UK have suspended him in a very untransparent way with a real lack of communication about why he’s actually been suspended. If they’re happy with him potentially destroying his body with professional athletics, it seems mighty hypocritical for them to suddenly take issue with him using his body to make money in a different way.
Perhaps Paddle UK should be asking themselves why their athletes need to look for other sources of income? £16,000 a year is not enough for a professional athlete to focus on their sport.

There are professional athletes sponsored by OnlyFans, now featuring the OnlyFans logo on their kits. Given how little funding sports other than football get in the UK, the idea of being a pro athlete, in the sense that it is your career, is non-existent in a lot of sports. People need other ways to fund their careers, which also gives them enough time to train.
Funding athletes makes a massive difference to our standing on the world leaderboards, and £16,000 per annum goes nowhere to funding everything an athlete needs. Consider the 2010s, when funders in the UK invested heavily in cycling, it became one of the most watched sports in the country, and we had the most successful team, dominated by British riders, who dominated for years. Recently, funding has been withdrawn, and cycling has fallen back into obscurity, with far fewer British riders. Budding pros are now having to join non-British teams and move to Europe to find support and success. Canoe slalom was an event in which we achieved good results at the Olympics. It makes sense to fund it appropriately; otherwise, we will be asking why we didn’t win those medals in 2028.

I don’t know why they’re making a big deal out of it. During the 2016 Rio Olympics, it came out that many athletes were quite literally selling their bodies to secure funding to focus on training. There were very wealthy people bragging about getting a “Trifecta” and sleeping with athletes who earned bronze, silver, and gold on the same day.
Why do they think they get to control every facet of a person’s life? As long as you ain’t doing crime and are good enough at whatever sport then you should be able to compete.
