Egypt is allegedly about to turn the historic monastery operating since the 6th century into a museum.

      > “Following yesterday’s scandalous decision involving the violent violation of human—and specifically religious—freedoms by the Egyptian judicial system, the oldest Orthodox Christian monument in the world, the Holy Monastery of Saint Catherine in Mount Sinai, now enters a period of severe trial—one that evokes much darker times in history,” the Archbishop said.

What is fall of hellenism even supposed to mean in this context? Is there a greek orthodox minority in Egypt? If not, I don’t see why it should not be turned into museum

I visited that monastary in 1989 when i hiked up Mount Sinai.
It is eastern orthodox. Egypt, and most of the islamic world, has no respect for christians nor any other religion besides Islam.
It is sad. I live in the USA and am all for religious freedom. But that’s not Egypt. And I am not really religious but was raised in the Christian tradition.

As a response we should close all Mosques in Greece ( except the ones in Thrace we are legally bind to) and make practise of Islam faith illegal on public setup .

Also deport every Egyptian from Greece and cancel all visas .

I know you’ll lynch me but at least they don’t convert these to mosques like our government does.
