I look forward to seeing what they cut a great deal of the spend will be mandated by Central Government. I suppose they can cut discretionary spending like support to local community groups, libraries, parks etc but that will upset their voters.

I’m looking forward to Reform replacing committees on flooding, climate change and that sort of thing with DOGE committees that can commission lots of studies from McKinsey consultants to advise them on the best way to save money.

I can just see the money being saved now.

Hasn’t this already happened in the uk a few years back, was a complete failure

I work for a council and we have to justify every pound we spend and we get zero luxuries (not even instant coffee). Really don’t know how these lot with no knowledge or experience of how councils work expects to keep services running while making mass cuts

Reform must be on the Musk/Trump payroll, it seems like they are just importing American ideas here

Seeing how Elon literally just left the white house after 5 months, I don’t think this will last

oh so THATS why 6 quit. They cut themselves out of the budget!

I look forward to Kent DOGE (or KOGE) looking at the councils outgoings, realising that estates makes up one of the biggest ongoing costs and makes the brave move to close many offices in favor of increased levels of home working for its staff….

Anti British reform party can fuck off with their foreign ideas on policy.

I’m totally 100% behind a department dedicated to wasteful government spending and every penny taken out of tax payers pockets illegally should be met with removal from office or even jail time. Anyone leader, political donor or otherwise trying to affect British politics should also be held accountable if they aren’t paying their tax here and paying it elsewhere.

This should be an independent body. Reforms leadership and many others would be off the record by the morning. If these people want to play games then give them exactly what they want. High end governmental audits done by independent adjudicators and penalties and punishments of the highest order.

Oh my word. The experience of local government is going to snap them in half, isn’t it?

I await them spending millions on this DOGE idea to find savings of about £3. And then justify to their constituents that they cannot pay to fill their potholes this year because their efficiency drive cost them money.

The importing of American shit to our politics has been a real blight on the last decade or so.

We’ve got a bunch of idiots on the right trying to co-opt all the MAGA shite. DOGE is the latest.

They tried to push a “Sir Sleepy” narrative about Keir Starmer and started talking about him being old and unable to keep up with Rishi Sunak. Basically re-using Joe Biden attack lines when they make no sense at all. All they did was make people realise Keir Starmer looks younger than he is.

American right-wing think tanks like the Heritage Foundation and Turning Point pushing their talking points in the UK, including talking about climate change initiatives as a “religion”, pushing “deep state” conspiracy theories around Liz Truss, etc.

And we also had idiots on the left shouting “defund the police” when we have an underfunded police service that has faced cuts for a decade. The defund the police movement in America was not even a tiny bit relevant to our realities here.

Wish we would just focus on our own stuff and stop trying to join in with America’s fucked up politics.

The real DOGE promised to cut $2 trillion but in the end it only saved about $175 billion.

Meanwhile, the tax cuts in Trump’s ‘big beautiful bill’ are going to add about $3 trillion to the USA’s national debt.

Would be interested to see how this is replicated in Durham and Kent.

    13. Aidan-47 on

They really missed an opportunity to call it the department of administrative affairs

    14. whatsgoingon350 on

So Reform is adopting a strategy that massively failed.

Just remind people that America DOGE was abandoned by Musk and ignored by Republicans and the Orange man, fired nuclear experts and then had to quickly reverse that. Took medicines from countries that needed them and shut down research teams who were working on cures.

If Reform wants to be the party that brings wealth back to the country it should look into tax invasion and hunt down the millions of fraud cases from people taking advantage of covid.

    15. wishbeaunash on

Just an absolute bunch of unserious LARPers. God help us if they actually get any serious power.

    16. Soundtones on

Why would we want to run the country like the u s of a, they’re doing an appalling job!

    17. bahumat42 on

Stop copying US politics, we are not them.

      Shameful stuff.

    18. BrokuSSJ on

Awkward moment where they have to cut the DOGE role for being a waste of everyone’s fucking time and resources.

    19. WatchVaderDance on

Why are we even allowing edge lord musks memes into the pissing government. FML

    20. Sparko_Marco on

I don’t know how anyone can look at America and think anything they are doing is a good thing to copy.

    21. Wadarkhu on

Wasn’t there once a time where something like this would have been laughed out of existence because of how ridiculous it is? DOGE. It’s named after a MEME! We are inside a black mirror episode. The one where that puppet got voted prime minister or something.

    22. _Originz__ on

I can’t even believe we condone the fact that the UK is about to end up as shit as the US

    23. stinkyjim88 on

Ironically, I imagine the waste would be bad in places they won’t win any seats .

    24. cbawiththismalarky on

Well people of Kent you’re about to get what you voted for..

    25. AlienPandaren on

What refo haven’t realised is the US are scheduled another national election before we are in the UK, and if the public over there turn against these ‘anti-woke’ measures then chances are importing the same ideology over here will end up turning off more voters than winning them over

    26. dandotcom on

Has to be projection, right? They would piss it up the wall so they assume others already are.
