It should be noted that the northern nations (and others near sweden) use snus (and pouches) that contribute to less smoking.
As for sweden alone, 12% of the population are snus users. (2007 stats).

Situation is horrendous in Bulgaria, just no disapproval of smokers at all. It’s a tobacco company’s dream job to sell product in Bulgaria. There needs to be an urgent intervention, particularly to stop women smoking – the number of mothers who smoke all over their babies, smoke in cars with their kids, teen girls who are smoking… It’s mind boggling how little people think of the consequences here.
As a non-smoking, non-snusing Swede I know which I prefer 100%.

I’m amazed that the numbers are so high, it’s mind boggling to me. My (Belgian) experience is more like 5% of people smoke classic cigarettes. There’s some that smoke e-cigs. Any time I smell someone has smoked it reminds me that cigarettes even exist (that and seeing a driver in front of me toss his cigarette out of the window, 🤮)
