I can’t imagine what growing and trying to project to the future in Turkey might be at the moment.

(Not even mentioning what it must be for some vulnerable categories, like LGBTQ+.)

We are failing our youth globally. They have all the info so they realize we are all screwed. Climate change is unavoidable, houses out of reach, work to be enslaved, it’s a feudal society and they know.

religion and clueless incompetent parents are the two biggest reasons behind that.

Last I remember something like 75% of Turks under 29 did not see their future in Turkey, did not believe working or studying hard would get them anywhere because of rampant corruption and cronyism and wanted to move, study and work abroad (this was a survey from a few years ago). One out of every 2 described themselves as unhappy and 86% had a financial debt.

I guess this is a side-effect of that. Young people see no future for themselves, don’t have the ability to move abroad (because no European country gives us visas anymore) and they feel depressed and desperate.

      I know I’ve been there.

      Not surprising.
Between higher sickness rates due to Covid and a world heating up to the point of no return, there isn’t much good left for them.

    6. Graduated highschool in the south east. Know 5 people by name who hung themselves or jumped off a roof. A dozen more that I don’t know by name.

It’s a shithole. Nothing good ever happens. Can you imagine that? Nothing good has happened for years.

    9. Erdogan. He not only stole the twenty years of Turkey’s potential growth, but he also stole the ability of the youth to hope, to love, to enjoy life and their future.

    10. they feel like there is no hope and they are probably right about that. even if you study through prestigious high schools and universities the job you’ll end up getting (if you’re lucky to be employed, that is) sucks. western europe virtually siphoned the skim of the defense industry engineers (chief among them is ASML) for the last 5 years. these companies (public and private) used to be most prestigious, well paid and respected. now they offer shit pay and nepotism.
