      Seems right, comparable role in the UK would add a zero to that so even adjusting for size of market etc it’s too low.

      CEO controlling our electricity grid should be on a comparable wage to other countries.

      Hiring cheap will cost ESB more in the long run, mismanagement is no joke.

      DAA head makes 360,000. Electric CEOs in other countries make a lot more

      It’s big money, but these aren’t menial roles. An appropriate salary is needed to attract the right person. For context, the Independent have claimed that the average annual pay package of CEOs in the ISEQ 20 (20 companies on Irish stock exchange with most trading volume) is €1.7m annually. ESB is significantly below the street in that light.

      Seems reasonable, in another country in Europe with comparable wages I see the CEO of the National Railway Company and another CEO of the electricity net is paid closer to half a million

      He problem isn’t ESB – they deserve proper market rate salaries. The problem is that they’ll apply the same rules to every semi state and you’ll have absolutely insane salaries being paid to CEOs of tiny semi states on the basis that they’re “market rate”.

      Clickbate. Robert Watt who is civil servant gets paid more than that who has no accountability for his job. It should be much more. It’s not a state job but paid like one.

      People complaining about this salary are the reason COL keeps going up in Ireland why wages have been fairly stagnant. That’s a very normal range for a chief executive.
