Is tourism really that bad for Spain? Like I know the media can spin a story but is it so detrimental?

The Spanish government has been actively working to increase housing prices for the last seven years. There is no “crackdown” on Airbnb, and no measures exist, or are planned, to restrict the platform. The government asked Airbnb to remove some listings to force the owners to register the properties as “tourist rentals,” so they pay the new, higher taxes for that category of rental. That’s all, as long as the taxes are paid, there are no restrictions on Airbnb.
