Are there that many asylums vs legal immigration? seems like one of those things they’re doing to placate people even though it won’t be as effective

Germany has many refuges because the important economic partner of Germany bombed them in Syria and Ukraine.
The reaction of CDU/SPD government and Merkel in 2019 was:
“But if we already received Russian gas during the Cold War – when I was still on the GDR side and we received Russian gas there anyway, but when the old Federal Republic also imported Russian gas on a large scale – then I don’t know why times should be so much worse today.”
And now Merz blames refuges for overload.

Europe, in general, is becoming increasingly overwhelmed. If we want to stop the rise of the far right, this issue must be addressed at a European level.
Simply returning immigrants to another European country will not help; it will only strengthen populist parties, as seen in Poland.

Last month Just 7000 new Refugees arrived in Germany. Lowest number since 2021.

      Long overdue.
Very low chances that it will actually materialize. It feels more like it’s fashionable now to address the subject and seem involved.

There have been initiatives and all failed because they depend on expired laws from the late 40s early 50s.

We’ll see in 1 year if anything has actually been done or just again more empty attempts.

Brilliant tactics by Merz. Due to insufficient personnel in the Federal Police, checkpoints are really only on major roads and the good ol’ Autobahn. So instead of effectively countering illegal migrants (who just use rural roads now) he is bullying border commuter and cargo traffic. Genius.

As the song goes, “It’s too late, Baby, yeah, it’s too late.” Closing the barn door after the horse bolted–so EU.

Funny enough the numbers have been falling since months and 2025 is going to have the lowest numbers of asylum seekers since COVID (looking at the current BAMF statistics).

One of the big reasons of course is that the situation in Syria is somewhat stabilized.

fucking nazi talk, but expected of the conservative right… all they ever do is orient on the far right.

These people are already in Europe, they are not going to leave. Some will get caught and move to France, or The Netherlands and some caught in France will go to Germany. it is a zero sum game when Europe doesn’t make one policy with temporary refugee centers elsewhere.

We shouldn’t be closing the inner EU Borders. The outside borders of the EU are those that need to be closed.

      u think?

lol germany was overloaded for the last decade!

Sometimes i wonder if Russia doesnt weaponizes migrants elsewhere, not only Belarus. Bc this would work out wonderfully: More migrants means more far right means less EU unity means easier prey for Russia. Its basically creating a problem which you know will be claimed to be solved by far right nationalists which in turm weaken the ability for EU rearming.

We know Russia is dabbling in Lybia. Its not about having missiles there, despite this what is being told.

Numbers have been going down for ages before any policies were implemented. All this does is just waste money.
