The actual figure is probably a fair bit less. We all know a few mothers who have very actively involved partners but for the sake of housing lists and social welfare claims, it’s fair better to be classed as a single parent/ mother household.

It means 6/7 are so that’s an awful lot better than it could be

Hard to trust this survey data when poor mothers are incentivised to lie on the surveys. It’s common for young mothers to pretend to be separated to get social housing. Then the father secretly moves in or still spends a lot of time there, while working either legit or under the table. That said, I’m sure there is a real and growing problem.

Often better off living apart from an unhealthy or abusive relationship.
I’ve seen some amazing co-parenting relationships that are a damn sight better than some marriages.

My neighbour is a “single mother” and is probably within these figures.
She lives with her partner of as many years that I know her with their children but got her house by virtue of being a “single” mother.

I wonder what the number not living with mothers is as the 2019 report on young children had 14% in total living in one parent households without distinction between mother or father.

Are widowed parents part of the statitics as well ?

Over a quarter of fathers who do not live with their children have ‘little to no contact with them’ – ESRI
Of course every comment here is about mothers lying to DSP and trying to pick holes in the report. Absolutely pathetic.

I’m the primary with my son. We’re having a blast. Being a single dad is brilliant.

I’d say that’s less than in the 1950s, or 80s when virtually every dad who was serious about supporting his family had to move to England to support them. About half a million emigrated in the 1950s

And what’s the percentage not living with mothers?

So 86% do live with a Dad, yay for them

In other news, 86% are. I’d say that’s a relatively decent figure by international standards.

Contraception should be mandatory until you’ve passed a basic parenting course.

I’m surprised it’s not higher to tell you the truth. I know so many couples living apart where the father comes round maybe one or twice a week and then the weekend. It seems so common these days that I was told I was crazy for putting my then partner on my housing application

Whilst not a good figure.
Is this a rise?
