if you showed me some sci-fi 5 years ago with a battlefield survailed by countless drones and birds using optical fiber as nests i would think its just absurd fiction
Sad but necessity is the mother of invention as many Ukraine people and wildlife have learned.
Years ago when optic fibre started to be used a lot at work, the techs were paranoid about getting it stuck in them and broken off, becoming stuck in forever.
So seeing this I find to be quite sad.
Soon, they will hit more planes from the wretched ones in their nests.
