It’s not reforms it’s state sanctioned manslaughter due to the number of people who will undoubtedly die due to the 4 point rule

what with this constant barrage of attacks on the disabled the and the soul destroying gut wrenching emotional disappointment and pain from the headline alone, i can’t even read the article I’m logging off and heading to my mums for the night or maybe weekend
edit: that’s me off but i wanted to come and wish you all a truly heart felt wonderful weekend may it be filled with love and laughter.

PIP spending has nearly doubled in 5 years from ~£8bn in 2018 to over £16bn by 2024. Mental health now makes up over 35% of claims. The mental health claims aspect makes it easy to manipulate. I know 2x claiming it as knew exactly what to say, while a third person who lives with her crippling pain has been denied it.
It was meant for serious, long-term disabilities but eligibility has stretched it massively. We can’t keep expanding it without reform. Target it better, protect those most in need, but people need to stop pretending this growth is sustainable or at all affordable in the long term.

Once again cuts for some of the most vulnerable people in UK society, always more and more money for weapons of death though…..

It seems taxation has been going up year on year as is government borrowing , but spending on the likes of benefits, etc is reducing. Doesn’t make sense. So where is the extra money being spent? Is there a year on year graph to show where the money goes over say last decade?

What is the likelihood of this actually happening? I feel like I’ve been hearing about this for weeks and weeks with a hint of uncertainty and what ifs spun around it.

The lack of development construction combined with an aging population and high debt means austerity forever.
Every year there’ll be more cuts, more inflation, more rent increases.
Paying off the retirement promises to the boomers will bankrupt the country. This is only the beginning.

So the triple hit according to the article applies to households with two people claiming pip who are both below the 4 point requirement and one of them also claims carers allowance for caring for the other.

This is incredibly concerning for most disabled people. I can’t function at all without disability and am permanently housebound. Under the new disability rules I won’t hit the points needed to qualify, and yes I sat down with UC staff and some kind disability specialists that visited my home to go through it with me. When this happens we have to go to court to fight the DWP as the points system is too arbitrary.
I have no living relatives that can care for me, and I will not be able to afford to eat or pay my bills due to having no income. There are hundreds of others in my online support groups facing the same issues. If these go through people will die.
I had to contest my last DWP ruling in court remotely and they lost on all counts as they forged information and purposefully excluded provided medical reports and documentation needed to receive PIP and the judge described it as obscene.
The courts are going to be virtually shut down due to excessive tribunals and it can already take up to 2 years to go through. People will be hurt or killed by the delays and changes, and many don’t have any buffer finances to keep them going. This is manslaughter by proxy, or manslaughter by inaction.

I dont know the specifics of these cuts but i do know you can either be more data led or anecdotal evidence led with how you drive change, data led is better as a whole in my opinion, but anecdotal is more emotional driven. I dont know anyone affected by any of these cuts, yet im being told its happeneing everywhere…No one wants their nan to be poorer during winter, but we also, we have Russia saying we are enemy number 1, like they did just yesterday, and if it gets to us being bombed, the consequences will be far greater than these tax cuts. Hard decisions need to be made one way or another.
