People forget how much time and effort goes into logistics in modern warfare. You can’t just fly in ammo last-minute if things go sideways. Having gear in Europe isn’t just useful, it’s vital for rapid deployment. Better to prepare now than panic later. This is smart, not aggressive.

It makes sense, especially if the US do scale back their deployment in Europe, there would be a lot of free space available in facilities already tailored for storing munitions and advanced equipment.

That’s exactly what the US Army had in West Germany during the Cold War, it was called POMCUS **(Prepositioning of Materiel Configured in Unit Sets)**
Essentially, they’d have a bunch of equipment prepositioned in selected sites and if World War III was about to start all they’d have to do is fly the troops in, grab the equipment and vehicles, and they’d be off to the frontline. Its a 100x faster than having to transport tanks, vehicles, ammo in aircraft after the conflict already started

The title suggest the UK isn’t part of Europe…

I mean duh? It would be a bit silly to keep all our munitions on an island at the other end of Europe while the theatre of conflict is going to be in Latvia/Estonia or worst case scenario east Germany
Especially as NATO standards mean if the fighting is particularly intense the British munition stores can be opened used by our allies before we even get there if required. Nobody loses in this scenario and it’s a bit mental that it’s even a news story.
The press will be shocked to find the Royal lancers and their tanks have been in Estonia for years next
