I can’t believe these people are still a thing. It’s like the “sovereign citizen” movement in the US.

      >claims individuals are only bound only by the contracts and laws they consent to

I mean you literally get a solicitor to negotiate the contract for you while getting a mortgage.

It never ends well for people who try this stuff.  Nor should it.

I remember a post on r/LegalAdviceUK where the guy let his brother stay with him for a bit and the brother turned out to be one of these guys. He changed the locks on him and tried to claim the house AND his bank account using some dubious logic about throwing an axe to all four corners of the land. Apparently he was so confident that he spent all his money on pizzas because he was certain that the bank was about to hand his brother’s account over to him.

Just had some sort of lecture from a man in the pub, completely unprovoked in which he decided to explain at great length that as sentient beings we aren’t bound by law and that at birth there is a paper version born of us too but we are not one and the same.

Which means if we’re ever in a court room for crimes we have committed, we must stand connected to the legal documents of ourselves on paper and that we can refuse to stand under these documents by saying that you “Don’t Under-stand” when the judge asks you if you understand the crimes that are brought against you. You’re technically refusing to be connected to the legal documents of yourself, and as such, you as a sentient being are unable to be placed in prison without your acceptance.

Sounds like that meme in formuladank “your tires cant degrade without your consent just say no”

This stuff is funny but also kind of sad. People look for solutions when times are hard and they come across these clowns who dazzle them with some official sounding nonsense and they cling to it even when bailiffs turn up to evict them, still shouting about non existent or long repealed laws or incorrect definitions of normal words.

Having repossessed houses from freemen among others,I assure you that the mortgages are binding.

These are about the worst people ever because every law and contract that benefits them must be obeyed, whereas anything they don’t like they starting quoting the Magna Carta or whatever. It’s all their rights over their responsibilities.

They’re on the same intellectual level as a toddler going through the ‘mine’ stage.

This is like the idiots that try and say you dont have to pay water and electric.

I mean sure, you can just not pay but at the very least you’ll end up with fucked credit and probably a CCJ.

In the Internet age where you can learn anything fully from a qualified professional, people still stick to instagram and facebook “guru” slop and misinformation.

Never more has it been true that “a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.” Or just no knowledge at all 😂

This property foreclosure was brought to you by the legal advice you got from that guy that’s always at the pub!

Their houses will be repossessed, obviously, but that could mean a small influx of houses on the market meaning supply is up causing a slight drop in prices…

…or rich landlords will just buy them up like the scumbags they are.

    13. Seeing these types try and represent themselves in court is a tremendously entertaining experience.

I was wondering when the UK would start getting sovereign citizens. I am here for all the debt collector and police compofaces.

I remember ages ago, some guy saying the Magna Carta enshrined the right to revolt. So I read it. And then I asked him which four barons were supporting him in that revolt, because without four barons signing up to such a revolt, the rebellion would, under the MC, be unlawful.

A guy a few years ago rented the scout hall near my house, declared it a courtroom, and issued a ruling that abolished Council Tax. Put some seals on it and posted it around the area. Amazing stuff, always good value entertainment these guys.

A fool and their money are easily parted, and all of that.

    18. I work in council tax and am seeing more and more of people trying to get out of paying by claiming they didn’t consent. I usually just send one email back telling them taxes are statutory charges and then stop responding as it’s pointless going back and forth with someone who’s minds are made up already. Let them embarrass themselves in front of the magistrates when they get summoned.

For a second I thought I was on the dune sub Reddit and it said “Fremen on the land”. Got very confused when it mentioned YouTube and mortgages.

These idiots manage to turn something as mundane as a parking ticket into getting evicted and ending up in prison. Even then they will still protest they are right

r/amibeingdetained is always good for this kind of stuff

Has there ever been a single documented example of someone invoking themselves as a ‘sovereign citizen’ or ‘freeman of the land’ that has actually worked?

Every time I’ve seen a video of this it’s normally in the context of a court case or police stop and it never works. Which make me wonder why it persists.
