Wild that the uks happy to join in on tearing down international norms and order to protect a us vassal state helmed by extreme right fanatics who are not exactly quiet about their disregard for international  law.

Hamas ‘s action were terrible, but it’s been Israels cabinet that’s repeatedly denied deals in exchange for an excuse to ethnically cleanse Gaza, the West bank, Syria and southern Lebanon. A little bit of international pressure on both sides to reach a deal should be the priority to keep Palestinians and the hostages safe.

Instead labour and Tories have shown that licking the US’s boot is more important than anything else.

I’ve generally got a lot more time for Cameron than most Redditors. But he’s clearly and obviously in the wrong here, and I’m glad that the government changed to one with a little bit more balance in its I/P position (although Starmer is also still far too nervous about offending Israel and its backers to say and do the right things).

The international rules based order only has a semblance of reality if it’s seen to operate fairly and against everyone. For too long Israel has been treated as a special case that can do what it wants, but its actions since invading Gaza have been on another level. We’re happy to sanction Russia (and rightly so!) for Mariupol, but we’re expected to be ok with Israel doing the same thing to Gaza.
