People hate governments that don’t piss money away, sadly.

Perhaps that can cut back on the avocado toast, maybe the ineptitude at the children’s hospital and the Dail bar

A crackdown on corruption would save Ireland billions a year.

Hmm. I find it hard to believe. Sure, the bike shed only cost 300k. I mean, that was a bargain.

Anyone got a copy of the report I’d love to see where spending is up.

The big problem with how the government spends money is the total wastefulness and inefficiency of it.

They are an absolute disaster on capital projects not much better and day to day running. It will upset many to hear this pointed out but the civil service is a huge part of the problem. There are hundreds of “managers” who do f**k all may get paid six figures for it.

The unions would not dare tolerate these people being touched.

The fact that the government is a coalition makes things worse. Because every single part party and group in it needs to be kept happy and this usually involves a frivolous spending.

The country lose the run of itself during covid. They started throwing money around like monopoly money.

The budget has increased by 20% (17.5bn) in 5 years.

At some point people have to accept the reality that this being done intentionally. Much like all the housing targets being missed [again].
