Since the map I posted Friday got so much attention I thought of posting another one. Here’s the famous octopus map.

A bit rich given most of Western Europe were just about to carve up Africa at the Berlin Conference.

Europeans aren’t against imperialism. They are only against imperialism turned inward – ie WW1 and WW2, and now the refugees and migrants flowing from where they destroyed and exploited.

Once again, the same thing is occurring – Europe fear mongers over Russia while it enables genocide in Palestine.

Surprised that Finland is a part of the map when we had never been an independent country at that time.

Except Russia never attacked the Balkans, it was Austro-Hungarian empire and Germany. Russia actually helped the Balkans liberate from the Ottomans. It did so by declaring a war on the Ottoman Empire the same year this map was created, and later helped repel the Germans and Austro-Hungarians.

I’m all in on bashing current Russian government, but trying to change the history is not it.

Maybe just focus on today aká Russia is invading Ukraine. We don’t need to recycle shit from the past that was eventually used by Nazis.
