Nella regione di Chernihiv, 24 bambini sono stati uccisi a causa dell’aggressione russa dal 2022. Alcuni sono morti in scioperi missili, alcuni sono stati sepolti sotto le macerie delle loro case e alcuni sono stati colpiti mentre cercavano di evacuare o trovare cibo

1. Maksym Shelupets — 15 years old

Maksym was killed on March 9 near Kolychivka when russians fired at a car with a tank-mounted machine gun. Inside were Maksym, his 24-year-old brother Sasha, Sasha’s girlfriend Diana, and her mother. Maksym and Diana’s mother were killed.

A week before his death, Maksym told his mother he wasn’t afraid of dying, only hoped it would be quick. “He was 15,” she said. “They must be held accountable. This is a crime.”

2. Dmytro Us — 10 years old

Dmytro, son of ultramarathoner Maksym Us, died during a March 16, 2022, shelling of Chernihiv.

A shell landed near their home. The family took shelter in their apartment hallway, then moved to the stairwell. An explosion blew the door open, and shrapnel hit them.

Dmytro was operated on but died a week later from a penetrating head wound.

3. Bohdan and Danylo Kharchenko — 14 and 11 years old

Also on March 5, 2022, the Kharchenko brothers and their mother were evacuating from Krasne. Their car hit a mine on the Chernihiv–Kyiv highway. Both boys burned to death. Their mother was thrown from the car by the explosion and also died.

4. Veronika Kuts — 12 years old

Veronika died on March 5, 2022. Her mother Viktoriia, stepfather Petro, and younger sister were evacuating from Chernihiv. Near the village of Yahidne, the road was blocked with stones. Petro got out to clear them, and shelling began. Both Petro and Veronika were killed. The mother and younger sister were captured by russian troops and held in a basement for 25 days.

Veronika, a fifth-grader, loved animals (especially cats), cycling, and swimming. She had a fluffy cat named Thomas.

5. Illia Chekh — 9 years old

Illia died on March 20, 2022, after being hit by shrapnel during a russian shelling near his home in Chernihiv.

On March 19, Illia and his parents briefly left the basement to get things from their car when a blast struck. All three were injured. Illia died the next day in the hospital.

He was a third-grader who loved music and hip-hop dance.
