I dati sui senzatetto ufficiali di cui sopra pubblicati dal Dipartimento degli alloggi identificano il numero di bambini che utilizzano alloggi per senzatetto di emergenza finanziati dallo stato su base regionale e contea nell’ultima settimana di ogni mese. Le cifre ufficiali registrano solo coloro che sono alloggi per senzatetto di emergenza statale, ma scontano quelli che si trovano in alloggi temporanei “propri”, rifugi per la violenza domestica, richiedenti asilo, persone che dormono ruvidi e le tante che sono “nascoste senzatetto” e che rimangono con familiari o amici in alloggi non sicuri. Non sono stati pubblicati dati sui senzatetto ufficiali tra agosto 2014, quindi esiste un divario nel grafico sopra per questo periodo.
Il problema è l’ordazione della proprietà a scopo di lucro da parte dei ricchi. Cosa si può fare? Una cosa che deve essere affrontata sono il numero di proprietà che sono abbandonate e/o vacanti. Ecco alcuni buoni suggerimenti di u/fdvfava
- Dedicare risorse per garantire che tutte le proprietà libere vengano acquisite nel registro e valutate per VHT
- Aumentare i tassi di raccolta al 90%+ attraverso i tribunali, se necessario
- Rimuovere l’abbattimento della tariffa per edifici commerciali liberi
- Introdurre un limite di tempo per l’esenzione VHT sulle proprietà vacanti elencate per la vendita
- Strategia e finanziamenti per le proprietà vacanti di proprietà del Consiglio da riportare rapidamente

This seems like a number that shouldn’t even be possible in a country 10x our size
It’s not acceptable but people keep voting this government back in. It seems so pointless even protesting when people just vote them back in.
These articles are becoming more and more like the nonsense going on in America. You read it, you’re quietly horrified, you roll your eyes and say “of course” and then you move on.
Regardless of the tone not changing for a long, long time here, nothing is changing. The news coming through where I feel a sense of comfort and relief in problems being addressed and resolved is becoming less and less frequent. I honestly can’t think of a time recently where I read an article and thought “fucking finally”, because it’s often accompanied by some absolute bullshit where terms and conditions mean it’s delayed for years, not being implemented for a long time or happening in a ridiculous phased model where no actual change will ever be seen. Or, you know, just nothing happening at all. When you’re conditioned to just expect absolutely nothing from this government and still be disappointed, it leaves you feeling totally conflicted.
I just feel totally desensitised to these articles now, not that they don’t bother me, but I just sit here thinking “what is actually going to be done about it?” and the answer is always ‘nothing’.

Man…if only there were someway we could have seen this coming…other than the last decade or so…or the Troika…or the past in general.
Sad fact is just like the health system these headlines are now being normalised
It’s not because of immigration, but it isn’t helping. When are we having a grown up talk about how many people this country can support? Are we going to wait until we eat each other for a place to live, access to a GP or school places?
The government sure as fuck aren’t building quick enough, we need to come at this from all angles.
