      How deep is the bay?

Wouldn’t this make it easy for Ukraine to sink the barges and block the bay?

Then, any ships within the bay would effectively be sitting ducks?

All of the defences mentioned are intended to stop naval drones and anti-ship missiles.

Sounds like a perfect target for Ukraine’s new ballistic missiles, which will simply ignore all of it and kill the large military ships in the harbour.

To get to the barrier you have to sail north and then west around the Arshintseva spit:

Hm, looks like the Russians don’t trust the coastal defense. Quite justified.

What had I read at topwar ru?
“Threat to helicopters: in today’s attack on Novorossiysk, Ukrainian milit* used, among other things,
a BEK with MANPADS (BEK = sea drone).”
At this time it was already known that the Ukrainian sea drones have different armament.
Maybe something that can shoot in a bow over the barges?
Not everything that can be shot over a wall is artillery …
And what is the draft of these barges and how deep goes the underwater barrier?
However barges are an appropriate protection against UAVs. /s

Wonder why all other navies don’t do this? Or does Russia just hide the navy now

Imagine a barge full of drones. God I hope there’s a barge full of drones.

    6. I see large gaps between unarmed ships. Not much of a blockade.
