Usually, when you hire a skip you have to sit outside with a shotgun like Krusty the Klown, just in case somebody decides that you don’t mind them dumping a load of crap in your skip.

We need new legislation making this a criminal offence for companies or those acting commercially to use others property as storage without agreement, and make it easier to remove legally. Liability should attach both personally to the company any personally to any notified directors.
Scaffolding companies do this a lot, too.

I had a similar thing with scaffolding. If they don’t have need of the skip, or scaffolding I guess it’s easier to leave it in place until they do. I did manage to finally do some pull-ups, so wasn’t all bad.

Sod that. I’m sure another company wouldn’t mind a free skip.

Get someone to drag it into the street and let the council deal with the company

Does no one actually read the article? The company won’t pick it up because their waste permit was revoked due to storing too much waste.
I’m sure lots of skip companies just leave it on the drive to avoid dealing with it but it’s not the case here

Tell them to collect or you will charge them storage

Charge them something reasonable like £100/day storage for keeping their skip on your property.

Ring the company and say “thanks for dropping by to organise the removal of this, I do appreciate it, and thank you for the gesture of good will with the partial refund, however friday won’t work for me to remove it as I’m not in, would thursday be better?”
They’ll assume another company or a scrap dealer is trying to steal their skip and come and get it pretty sharpish after that. Works for scaffolders too who do the same thing.

If it was me id empty it, jack it up on wheels and push it onto the road, and refill it, then do an anonymous call to the council for lack of licence (278 planning application)

I wonder how long it will take this dude to realise his $20 could purchase an extension cord to allow him to continue charging from home?
