>The prime minister will not be drawn on whether the UK will be involved in defending Israel.
I think we have a right to know the answer to this. He works for us, not Israel.

We should not be getting drawn into a war that has been escalated far beyond what is reasonable by Israel. Oct 7th was awful but Israel’s conduct since then has been even worse.

Seems reasonable, Iran today made threats against UK and allied military bases in the region so understandably UK wants to show force by moving in more assets to deter attacks.
Its not about defending Israel rather responding to an increased threat level in the area.
Iran have said they might even shut the strait of Hormuz that would make this a UK national security issue and we would want to respond to keep those shipping lanes open.

Western governments:
Directly help Ukraine defend against Russian attack, no chance.
Help Israel defend against Iranian retaliation for Israel’s attack on them, you son of a bitch I’m in.

We have endless money and resources to defend Israel from the consequences of their own actions.

We shouldn’t be defending Israel. They orchestrated this strike against Iran. Not us.
Israel is not a member state of NATO either.
Defending overseas bases is fair. Israel can defend itself here.

No matter the feelings on the matter, facts are that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, the UK has spoken out, there’s an arrest warrant for Netanyahu & theres questions over Trumps allegiance to the west.
The Iran situation was avoidable & was in fact directly ignited by Trump, so this is completely on Trump and Netanyahu, who is just seizing on his dreams of taking on Iran, spurred on by the US leadership being at probably an all time low & starting next phase of Israel’s campaign of death across the middle east.
My feelings on the situation mean nothing in the grand scheme of things, but I’ll certainly vote against Starmer in the next election if he uses UK assets to protect Israel until such a time as the UK or NATO ally is attacked by Iran, at which point by all means whatever it takes to end it… But until that point, Israel/US should be left to deal with the problems they caused while we try and get a diplomatic solution.
