I quite like them as a little treat.

    Even though they sound Lovecraftian.

Present in the supermarkets, I never buy them because they are expensive(2 euro in Lidl if I’m not mistaken) and I can break chocolate myself, without paying for this “feature”

My local REWE never manages to sell these so you always find them in the angebote section (close to best before date)

  4. Have been advertised in Germany for decades. It was always the typical chocolate that grandmas buy. But I don’t really find the chocolate tasty. It just tastes like cheap chocolate

I personally think they are okay, but usually buy them for baking or making desserts, since they are reasonably cheap. If I’m just eating plain chocolate there are other brands I prefer.

It was an important treat for us during childhood. Often handed out by grandmas. But somehow being an adault now nobody that I know buys them.

German here. I like that chocolate.

OK, it isn’t that fancy high-quality stuff you’ll get at the small chocolatiers, but it is an affordable and enjoyable everyday chocolate.

But I wonder: if you compare it to american chocolate, how could it possibly be cheaper than that? The tariffs of Tronald Dump should make that impossible right now.

Oh, and about that comparison to american chocolate: the german chocolate might be received as superior because it doesn’t taste like vomit. For me this is a huuuge advantage!

They were our staple at DnD meetups. They taste good and not having to deal with breaking the chocolate is nice.

Its good but choc prices have gone through the roof, I don’t buy any unless they are on sale for a buck. Ridiculous.

Bad chocolate, but a guilty pleasure once in a while

  11. Little but oldschool, but still loved!

Perfect little treat if you just want something sweet without taking too much. Or you lay it on top of a banana and put it on the remaning heat after BBQ which is a quick&easy dessert

  12. It is basic chocolate. Better and cheaper than the examples you have given. Some Hersheys products are not even allowed to be called chocolate over here because the ingredients (and amounts) do not meet quality standards.

It would not match Belgian and Swiss chocolates in popularity. And obviously not match other mass products like Milka either.

They are great for all the different variants they have.
But if you like good chocolate, they’re disgusting. The normal 60 cent chocolate tastes better.
And my tip: Test “die gute Schokolade”, it is not only fairtrade and plants trees, but is also the best chocolate you can get (without paying 10€) and even costs less than Schogetten or even Milka.

My grandparents often had some laying around when I was a child, so I do have fond memories of them. But it’s pretty mediocre chocolate with many better alternatives. Sometimes I get intrigued by a new flavor and buy one but I’m usually left disappointed.

Schogetten are everywhere, just like ritter sport and milka, but not as popular i think. I love them because the seperated chocolate forces me to eat slower and you dont have the hassle to break them apart.

For summer they have some flavors for the freezer that are delicious!

Childhood memories. My grandma had them always, but tasted better back then.

  18. I think the taste is fine, but I’m never buying them since other, cheaper brands taste as good to me. The plain milk chocolate was especially bad when I tried it last time, just tasted like the cheap generic Christmas figure chocolate.

Schogetten are relatively cheap because most of them contain very little chocolate. They’re mostly filling, milk cream and sugar. Also, skimpflation hit them pretty early on. Nowadays, most of the name brands are just as bad, though…
