There’s a fortune to be made by selling Ireland as your green moist refuge from yellow dust and heat. Obviously we won’t have the wit to exploit climate change in a good way for the economy.

There is no shortage of Irish holiday makers in Spain in July and August and it’ll be the same this year.

We haven’t seen anything yet when it comes it immigration. When shit gets really bad with the climate, we will become a refuge for Europeans.

Cost of living will hit holidays, too expensive to staycation and less but still too expensive to vacation.

Don’t go to the Med in mid summer, it’s unliveable.
The Baltic is the new Med

The whole article is just some off-hand remarks from a travel agent, no stats to back it up. Dublin airport said they’re expecting the busiest summer on record this year and I highly doubt that’s being driven by traffic to Norway and Sweden

This is just the early signs, in 30 or 40 years large portions of the planet will likely be uninhabitable. Where will people go? Places like Ireland, the population will simply grow and grow as a result.

Costs are up, nothing to do with climate or whatever other spin. The 5 days in Lanzarote/Tenerife/Majorca used to be doable on a few hundred Euro. Done right you could actually live cheaper for that week away. No longer, the accomodation has spiked up in price

It’s also because families are choosing to go during the school year instead of the summer months to save a few bob.

Going on hols tomorrow and I purposely picked a placed more northern in Europe as temps are usually 21-22 which is perfect for us and the temp we usually holiday at.
It’s forecast to be 27-30 for the week. God fucking help us. My kids have never felt that heat and I haven’t since my leaving cert holiday to Greece where I got burned so bad my feet swelled up.

We chose Northern Spain last summer because we were worried about heatwaves and forest fires. Lovely spot.

Was in Spain in July two years ago. It was hitting 40c. I go away in September now. It’s just not worth it.

Expect northern Spain and northern Portugal to become your new Algarves and Benidorms as southern Europe becomes too uncomfortable for the likes of us in high summer.
I’m going to the south of Spain in August, light a candle for me.
