From the client, end user perspective, the Win11 experience is miserable compared to the Windows 7 , or even the Windows 10 experience. Tthere constant push, and nagging to use M$ cloud, and now the AI that cannot be disabled is so-so appealing.
Debian here I come.

My mom would probably quit her job if her ministry made her use something else than windows and she is among the more tech-literate civil servants. They better buy the IT department some energy drinks.

Tldr: Windows turned from an operating system that carries some spyware into a spyware system that contains some functions of an operating system.

Microsoft seems to be facing a game of dominos and as experience and knowledge spreads the pieces may fall faster and faster.

I think the bigger issue will be existing software to work properly, and users to switch away from Microsoft office…

Schleswig-Holstein has been talking about moving to FLOSS [Free/Libre Open Source Software] for sometime.
What a lot of places do like SH, and quite rightly so is to go bit by bit; such as Libreoffice or Collabera, then VLC, OpenXchange before then touching Linux.

Theres no sane government that would switch from a microsoft operating system to a linux as it is not user friendly. linux on a server is perfectly fine but not as day to day os. not a chance in hell of this ever happening.

I recently made the jump from windows to Linux at work. It’s going well overall but it’s still buggy compared to windows and it’s hard to imagine worklife without Teams these days. I tried slack at another company but that linux client worked terribly

Good to see, the switch is very doable, the French National Gendarmerie have switched 100,000+ PC’s to Linux
It’s their own fork of Ubuntu called GendBuntu

Not in Hungary, never would be. The most corrupt and power hungry government hand in hand with the corporation believing in the same values.
