Well, as the article says, it’s to protect the privacy of the children.
Maybe someday they’ll identify themselves and talk about their experiences. At any rate, there are enough specifics in the article that anyone with enough time or anyone who knows the family will be able to figure it out. I bet neither parent will work again in their respective professions.
Sounds like it was a close decision, since the children’s representatives were pro naming, but not sure that a whole lot of good would come from it, although I can understand why newspapers would want to name them – always makes for a better story for them.

Probably possible to work out who they were if you really wanted from this, and makes the behaviour mentioned perhaps seem not quite so out of character.
I hate this using the children as shields and giving parents anonymity under the guise of ‘protecting’ the children.. Does anyone think that the children will feel less victimised by this trauma as they enter and live out their adult lives knowing with anonymity?
If you were abused or raped, even if it was by a relative, would you really not be so angry and hurt that you’d want the perpetrators to be named? They took your dignity but they get to keep theirs.
