I was saying this a decade ago. There is no chance we can reach anything close to co2 neutrality in a democratically accepted way without nuclear power

>Currently, Greece generates over 50% of its electricity from renewables, with only 5% from coal, primarily used as backup power. The country aims to increase renewable penetration, particularly offshore wind and solar with enhanced storage capacity.
I’m a little surprised, with my thinking they get reliable sun there.
I can’t imagine nuclear competing with that. They can export it all year round to more northern parts of Europe as well so just overbuild.
They mention putting nuclear into shipping in the last paragraph as well so I suspect this isn’t a serious article.

if we start producing our own nuclear energy, the entire world is absolutely fucked. we still dont have telematics in our railroads, there’s no way we can maintain a nuclear factory with any amount of success …

The nuetral nuclear armament is what is used for energy much like the armament to be ensued by the factor that does not break itself for the bigger sellout and compromise ingenuity by the energy company in which is the buyer to some kind of armament that is disenfranchised by debt ceiling.

Greece is one of the few countries that can go “full renewables” even without hydro. It’s not only the sun, it is also as windy as Northern Europe and the possible locations for wind farms are ideal for the grid – not in remote areas.
Instead we should invest in building up Bulgaria’s nuclear capability. Bulgaria is a much better case for nuclear energy.
