    1. How about reforming/removing the marginal pricing system while they are at it?

We need more urgency. We need wind farms and nuclear power plants as quick as we can build them. We’ve got the highest prices in Europe, and with current conflicts, that is not going to change.

We need a zonal pricing structure and a lot more pylons being built. Currently, energy is bought at a national level and it pays for all the cheapest sources until demand is met (most expensive being gas so the wholesale price is gas).

However, most of the wind energy is in Scotland so it isn’t really that useful if we can’t get that energy down to the south where it is needed more. So then, the grid operator needs to pay to _turn off the cheap wind turbines_ and turn on more gas plants in the south. What a waste of money.

Zonal pricing means _where_ the energy is being created is taken into consideration before paying to turn them on, saving a ton. It also means places like in Scotland, which has lots of renewables but also some of the highest prices, could see their prices drop significantly. More pylons mean the wind energy in the north can be transferred to the south
