Interesting snippet; Patriot gets a vote of support, SAMP/T gets something of a downcheck:

There will be many many countries who will get to 3.5% in like 5-7 years…. so yeah.
Doesn’t matter. Only fearmongers are scared of Russia when in reality they are to weak to beat Ukraine, the poorest and the most corrupted state in Europe.

These talks of 5% BIP are madness.
BIP is not the budget of the state and using it as a measure of what to spent is insane.
2% is already plenty and I rather spent it on climate change projects and green energy etc.
If you read the article it’s not Sweden that delays, Sweden predicts there will be a delay by other countries.
The decision of 3,5 % is already taken by the Swedish government and how it till be financed.

Any delay beyond any politician term just means no.
As much as we keep shuffling in our seats over big statements, most European countries that are not directly targeted by Russia will not want to spend more money on European defence until their own citizens are dying in drone and missile attacks. That’s just the crude reality.

This is the problem, the United States has provided military welfare to Europe for 70+ years now. Your economies and societies are often predicated on not needing to spend on defense because the US military will take care of you.
I don’t support Donald Trump AT ALL. That guy can fuck right off. But his point about Europe needing to spend more on defense is valid. Some Europeans seem to get off on pointing out that the social welfare system of the United States is significantly less robust than Europe’s. This is why the difference exists. There might need to be some rollbacks in your welfare systems to fund your respective (or combined) military at a level of self sufficiency.
