      Brilliant; common sense, for once, prevails. However what a mighty waste of resources and court time.

      Interesting nugget:

      … by law, “no entity other than the Central Bank or such persons as ordered by the Minister [for Finance] shall be obliged to accept more than 50 coins denominated in euro or in cent in a single transaction”.

      “The children suffered embarrassment in the shop with locals present, and suffered embarrassment with their friends because of the incident”.

      Nothing to do with the piss poor parenting on display of course.

      Oh the parents knew exactly what they were at there, sending the kids in with that coinage and 2 days before Christmas place would have been rammed. I’m sure that ended up costing the supermarket anyway in defending itself.

      Not sure how they thought the claim would go through with how flexible the staff were. I do feel quit bad for the kids though, not fair to send them in to do this

      The only embarrassment cause here was by both parents. They knew exactly what they were doing and acted as such.

      Is paying in coins part of Traveller culture? How on earth did they try make that link to the court?

      If the family involved don’t have to suffer any consequences it just encourages people to take stupid claims like this
