Very strange individual, seems to attract controversy & not a good advertisement for Irish politicians.
In defense of the people of Clare, how could they have known that this particular TD would turn out to be so bad? If you want to vote a certain way, regarding national policy, you have to trust the party label. It’s all you have to go on, especially with a first timer or unknown.
The finger should be pointed at Sinn Fein HQ who in that election made a mess of their candidate selection process, in Clare but also in other constituencies.
Sinn Fein call out the govt for mismanaging the building of the children’s hospital and overpaying for a bike shed, but it’s not like they’re against them in principle. All they offer on those particular issues is the promise that they would handle them better.
Maybe Sinn Fein have improved since 2020, and if they got into govt they’d magically discover competency.
