Now he will be arrested for bothering the shoplifter for going about his day. How dare he stop shoplifters, doesn’t he know about the cost of living crisis? Stealing good, rich bad

No wonder the crime rate is so bad, when the police sack people for doing their jobs.

Good copper will remain a good citizen even when out of the force.

Just a shame so many decent coppers have left, with a lot of questionable ones remaining in the force, purely because their face fits!

The politics of policing nowadays unfortunately mostly breeds a certain type of copper who will stick around, ‘fit in’ but not offer a lot more.
A lot of, shall we say, more pragmatic coppers, have all left the force just to keep their own sanity.

One of the police force mistakes was putting those fresh from uni with degrees, above time served experienced officers who’d had to work their way up from being in the gutters on the beat, through various divisions and promotions.

Nothing beats experience in this field. No degree in criminology or sociology can give you what officers whom worked their way up have got. I’m convinced of this fact.

I’m not belittling the guys with degrees that are in the service (I have one myself – albeit not with the police), but the best investigators have lots and lots of real world experience. Nothing can beat that.

Does anyone have the footage of the arrest that led to the guys termination? From the article’s description it doesn’t sound particularly bad given the amount of adrenaline that I imagine you get disarming someone with a knife.

Nah you’re all defending something you haven’t watched. He’s slapping him, calling him a bitch and pushing his head into the ground when he’s not even resisting. Police have a shit job, but that’s just unprofessional and excessive. Deserved the sack if he can’t control his emotions, we’re not America ffs.
