Why even bother, there needs to be a real deterrent to ripping off customers

€470 for an electric toothbrush? Am I reading that right?

    3. > Boots was found to have committed three pricing breaches for the 17 November 2023 sale, including advertising an Oral-B toothbrush for €470 with a prior price of €999.99, despite it having been sold at €470 just days before.

I started writing a response stating that this paragraph so obviously proved that the breaches were genuine errors rather than an attempt to mislead.

I was certain that the €999.99 price was an error or a placeholder, and when the correct price was added it was automatically marked as having been on sale without anyone noticing, or something similar.

But when I checked their website to satisfy myself that they don’t really sell a €1,000 toothbrush, I found that they actually do.

And it appears that the only reason they price it at €1,000 is indeed so they can claim it’s being sold better than half price from time to time – because other retailers sell it for between €300 and €550.

No punishment for false advertising either? Can’t even get a pair of boots in there.
