Dude, you’re arriving early in Dusseldorf. That’s totally worth sacrificing the stops in Neuss and Monchengladbach.
In all seriousness, check your DB Navigator App or talk to the conductor before arriving in Dusseldorf and it will be fine.
It’s pretty straightforward to get a partial refund, but I’m not sure if you are eligible. As long as you get to your destination with less than 3h delay you usually aren’t but don’t take my words for granted. Ask the DB employee or service desk or online service.
Welcome to Germany.
Yes, just take any train to Mönchengladbach Hbf once you get off at Düsseldorf Hbf.
This is nothing uncommon and happens all the time. Welcome to Deutsche Bahn 😀
Unfortunately unexpected things can happen that causes a train to adjust its route
Go and talk to staff. Either on board, or when you stop at Düsseldorf. You won’t be the only person impacted by this and I find the DB staff generally to be helpful in stressful and frustrating situations like this
not 100% sure but I think you can call a taxi and have them pay the trip, maybe call their hotline first to confirm
But you are informed right now? It almost two hours to sort out a connection.
For example, RE 4, leaves Düsseldorf at 20:21 and arrives in Mönchengladbach at 20:49.
That only 7 minutes later than your expected arrival, so no refund.
I didn’t even know ICE trains stopped in Neuss. But yeah, only a mild inconvenience by DB standards. There should be plenty of options.
I know how to get to Mönchengladbach , it’s not a question for me. But the thing is that I want to get a service for which I paid for – direct train to destination. Or refound for not be able to provide that service.
„DB, if you can’t guarantee a route, don’t sell it as such.“
Then DB would need to stop operating, no route can be guaranteed.
