This person has family ties in the territory of the Russian Federation.

It’s up to Ukraine. If Ukraine doesn’t want to cede territory – and why should they? then Europe should support that.

American isolationism means isolating America. Fuck trump and his dementia ridden whims passed as foreign policy.

Ok… But the Ukrainian military needs weapons with which it can strike back at Russia… and level the playing field. long range missiles in particular, more air defenses as the Russian military adapted to a war of attrition.

The Biden policy was to “slowly give just enough for defense”, EU / UK followed that policy, with the Trump chaos now is EU and UK willing to drastically change the status quo?

In this case it’s not about “opinion polling” but realities and the decisions the heads of state make…

      >Europeans are increasingly signaling that they will not follow U.S. President Donald Trump if he advocates requiring Ukraine to give up territory or easing sanctions on Russia, according to a major poll by the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR).

But he’s already done this, at the last so called talks he inserted himself into…

Here we have the peace talk plan he had propsed with Russia and Ukraine to start off with –

      >What Russia gets under Trump’s proposal

      >”De jure” U.S. recognition of Russian control in Crimea.

      >”De-facto recognition” of the Russia’s occupation of nearly all of Luhansk oblast and the occupied portions of Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia.

      >A promise that Ukraine will not become a member of NATO. The text notes that Ukraine could become part of the European Union.

      >The lifting of sanctions imposed since 2014.

      >Enhanced economic cooperation with the U.S., particularly in the energy and industrial sectors.

And recently it showed the US is protecting Russians oil-[“Ukraine confirms US is now protecting Putin’s oil assets” ](https://kyivinsider.com/ukraine-confirms-us-is-now-protecting-putins-oil-assets/)

And then there is this factor-

      >French President Emmanuel Macron echoed that rationale at the recent G7 summit, calling for tougher sanctions on Russia and reaffirming Europe’s solidarity with Ukraine in defense of democratic values.

Except what really happened was this – [“Carney pledges $4.3B for Ukraine, adds sanctions condemning Russian ‘barbarism'” ](https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/g7-day-2-trump-iran-israel-1.7562980) (the last section I mention show his response)

      From the article-

      >Prime Minister Mark Carney announced billions in support for Ukraine and tougher sanctions against Russia Tuesday as he condemned Russia’s “barbarism” following its deadliest attack this year on Kyiv.

      >Standing next to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, ahead of a sideline meeting on the final day of the G7 summit in Alberta, Carney said a new $2-billion package would fund helicopters, drones and ammunition. His office said money is going toward armoured vehicles as well.

      >Canada is also lending the war-torn country $2.3-billion to help rebuild its infrastructure and public systems. The Prime Minister’s Office said the loan will be repaid by interest charged on Russian assets frozen in Europe.

      >And Canada is promising a suite of new sanctions targeting Russian individuals, entities contributing to the evasion of sanctions and 200 vessels, part of what is often called Russia’s “shadow fleet.” The aging tankers are used to evade sanctions on Russian oil.

      >Despite Zelenskyy’s attendance, the G7 leaders did not issue a joint statement on Ukraine. That’s because the U.S. wouldn’t agree to the final wording, a senior Canadian government source said, speaking on condition that they not be named.

      >While there was one originally planned, the source said six of the leaders were prepared to go far in their language but the the Americans wanted to water it down. The official said the Americans did not want some pointed remarks about Russia to be included because they feared it would compromise their negotiations with that country over ending the war.

So why didn’t France, who is a part of the G7, actually do what carney did with sanctions, and refuse to sign it? 🤔

      Trump can’t be trusted.

Ukraine’s best interests – what they are and what they need to be – are best left to Ukraine.

His way to end the war was basically to get Ukraine to surrender, he hasn’t shown any real interest in anything else. Now he’s basically side lined himself largely, because no one is sure which side he’s really on.

I reject following the US with Trump period, given their current values.
