Why did this lady become such a target of hate? She stood her ground and made sure a woman beater and homophobic man was punished.

I think because she’s holding a mirror up to mysogny and just general gender based violence. Some people prefer to pretend its not an issue and in general don’t like women to speak up or stand up for themselves, so its easier to say she’s annoying or attention seeking then to reflect on your own or your pals behaviour! Also massive props to her for standing up against homophobia in the first instance, against that moron who attacked her. We need more people like Natasha in our 🌎

    3. She’s milking the attention, I was a gig recently and the artist brought her up to recite a poem she wrote. She’ll become some NGO figurehead by this time next year

I think people got turned off her because she was so passionate and outspoken. Same reason my mum hates greta Thurnberg. She comes across as arrogant to my mum. I think people thought she was being overdramatic and since she got her day in court she should be quiet now.

But no. Someone of respectable standing was not only being vile to someone random but also beat the everloving shit out of someone who just called them out on the first bad behaviour. Just because they have XYZ job or standing in society shouldn’t make them above the law.

Also if people keep seeing the same type of crimes reported on all the time, they can see how frequent it is. How many people started to talk and moan about shite when they saw all the shootings or even the scooter menaces all the time? Loads. People are more inclined to see the signs of dodgy behaviour more then. So even if one person spots the signs of something, shes done her job

Okay, so I can’t reply for some reason, I’ll just post her:

      – Sorry but I actually think your comment is itself a bit sexist and lacking nuance.

My comment is responding specifically to the “there’s something vaguely unlikely” bs, that is often directed to women being bold. This started when she spoke out against homophobia, right? It’s nothing more than people who can’t cope with women doing something they don’t expect.

That is it. I completely agree about male victims, but it not the victim part I was addressing.

      Who was lacking nuance again?

Because she’s a woman, with the temerity to speak out firstly over Crotty’s behaviour on the street, and secondly, over the leniency of his punishment.

There’s misogyny (another bloody woman complaining) and probably a bit of “well she drew it on herself” regarding the attack

She’s a woman. She’s not the ‘perfect victim’ … as in she’s not the shy and retiring type that a patriarchal society favours.

Imagine getting pissed at a woman that was unambiguously the victim in the situation

Some people need to get their heads examined

When it comes to bystander intervention, you have the gawkers, the ones who ‘see nothing’ and the more proactive people who phone for help or create a distraction and then you have Natasha who sticks her neck out and gets beaten for her civic mindedness on a street where many people were ambling about.
