L’anno scorso la Cina ha generato quasi 3 volte più energia solare rispetto all’UE, ed è vicino al sorpasso di tutti i paesi dell’OCSE messi insieme (la cui popolazione combinata è di 1,38 miliardi di persone)

That’s amazing news. Go China. The more they use renewables, the fewer coal plants they will use.

Very nice but not surprising considering the entire production chain is not only there but everything is close together, making prices for solar significantly cheaper than anywhere else. At that point doing anything other than solar is just more expensive and the only limit is lead times / availability with infinite demand.

Well good for them. They are teaching us things.

Reddit used to be full of people saying in the West we shouldn’t reduce emissions “because China”. I’m wondering what excuse they have now.

    5. That’s great and all, but it’s still using coal for 50%+ of its energy mix, and roughly 80% in fossil fuels. Its increased need for energy outpaced and now is roughly on equal pace to their increased green energy production. Whereas for most OECD countries green energy production far outpaces increased energy needs and coal is often completely abandoned or close to abandonment.

Now do coal power. China uses more coal than the rest of the planet combined, 61% of China’s electricity comes from coal a number that is actually increasing. China now accounts for 93% of all new coal fired power plant construction in the world.

Just thought these rosy numbers needed some additional context
