Looking deeper into the stats of GDP per head, certain regions within London obviously have higher figures (Westminster being £924k per head for example).

City vs City however, it seems Edinburgh tops the board.

Nice to see Edinburgh doing well be better if Glasgow was doing a touch better but we take the wins where we find them.

That’s either great news for the country or terrible.

I don’t know much about the subject but I’m surprised this is even possible

Scotts know Edinburgh’s weigh and value.

Non Londoners and Labour hate London and are actively killing London’s economy. The rest of the UK will suffer.

      >EDINBURGH has been hailed as Scotland’s financial “powerhouse” as its economy has surpassed London’s for the first time, new data has shown.

      >The figures reveal a gross domestic product (GDP) per capita of £69,809 in Edinburgh, compared to £69,077 for London.

London has a GDP of over £600 billion, Edinburgh is more like £35 billion. To say it has ‘surpassed London’ is therefore not just disingenuous, it’s outright bollocks.

Good for Edinburgh, any good news should be applauded. It’s the endless political point scoring that gets dull.

A lot of very poor people in London though, 24% are living in poverty vs 17% in Edinburgh, according to a quick Google.
