Mi sono imbattuto in questo video su Simo Häyhä e ho trovato la sua storia assolutamente affascinante, ma non avevo mai sentito parlare di lui prima. Perfino i miei amici finlandesi hanno appena sentito parlare di lui. Perché un uomo e una storia così interessanti non sono più parlati? O è solo che i miei amici finlandesi sono insolitamente disinformati?

They are uninformed.
He is well known but Finnish culture doesn’t really revolve around heroics. Many veterans never talked about their experiences on the front either.
Never heard, who’s that? Seriously, he’s not that big thing here, we have lot of heroes and lot of sad stories. Interesting man, yes, but he did not win the war alone (and as you know, we didn’t, but fought back and stayed independent).
