Peter McVerry Trust received 40 million from the government last year. Up from around 30 million the year before. Yet they claim they don’t need to show up to answer government questions. Meanwhile..RECORD number of children homeless. I smell a rat
Edit: yeah I know the housing crisis is primarily the governments fault. Two things can be true at once believe it or not!
We need to have a serious conversation about what’s driving these shocking homeless figures, and the uncomfortable truth is it’s immigration.
As per this [Dublin Region Homless Executive report](https://www.homelessdublin.ie/content/files/Homeless-update-63-May-2025.pdf?v=1750772334) the cold hard headline numbers are:
– 29% of new homeless families are non-EU
– 42% of new homeless single adults are non-EU
– 28% of single adults were dumped out of the asylum system and direct provision
Ireland is clearly much more than just an extreme example of an ecological disaster 😑
Shame on us all.
I reckon a lot of these people are playing the system trying to get up the social housing list.
I don’t blame them to be clear. This is clearly a government issue.
Need to set up a government construction company with compulsory purchase orders and no planning required
