Statement by the Office of the Presidential Candidate, Republic of Turkey:

>When someone coughs in the world, Turkey catches pneumonia. I read the observations of the Felicity Party (moderate dissident Islamist) Chairman, Mr. Mahmut Arıkan, in his group meeting speeches, where he reminds us of our country’s fragility.

>Instead of understanding this serious issue and being aware of it to produce solutions, we are faced with a government that has shut its ears to the citizens, the markets — in short, to all critical matters — and has become disconnected from its people.

>Moreover, there is a government and its apparatuses that continue to make moves that destroy society’s trust and morale: Diploma annulments, framed lawsuits and operations against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, judicial operations targeting the CHP, politicians, party leaders, and media members sent to prison, media outlets shut down or punished, opposition under pressure and threat… All of these are destroying our country’s credibility and reputation, while also making investors flee without looking back.

>We are experiencing a government that has squeezed Turkey’s reputation into a single photograph frame, revealing its incompetence.

>As we plan our country’s future, we see the following principles as indispensable:
A reputable foreign policy, a visionary and rapidly developing Turkey, a functioning and productive economy. A system based on fair distribution, a judiciary based on the rule of law and the principle of separation of powers.

>Our goal is to rid the country of the current Presidential Government System, which is dragging us to the bottom in every field.

>We aim for a democratic and strong parliamentary system that prepares our youth for the future with hope and our children with confidence.

>We will reach our goal with the support of our nation.

>Because this is what the people want.
