People are locked out because average house prices in Dublin are now beyond the first time buyer price limit.
A dumb scheme as:
1) It shouldn’t be needed in the first place – a band-aid solution
2) It increases prices
3) Can’t be used for anything over 500k which soon will be an obsolete figure everywhere anyway as prices will continue to rise
This scheme was never a serious attempt to address the problem, it increased prices and made itself obsolete. A sure sign that it was poorly planned.
The money put into this scheme should have gone into building out the labour force and supporting industries to build housing, once housing balanced, shift them to infrastructure and modern industry construction.

Scheme hasn’t lasted that long so, who would’ve thought 🫠 these clowns are so prepared to do everything but fix this crisis.
I know many people that used it though. So worked for them
Yeah give people more money than make houses cheaper is always the answer in fairness
The government simply does not care.
They don’t need to.
Only when it starts affecting the big American companies will they start getting a bit more of a push.
In the interim the companies are paying higher wages.
Can we all agree it was shite idea and that new build estates look like a cross between an old folks home and Norwegian prison. Fucking soulless overpriced and creepy
This scheme never helped the lowest income buyers, who were never affording a new build. It was always a cushion for those who needed it the least
