Oh so it was only a “one-stride kick” instead of a running kick. Does that matter? He kicked a guy in the head that caused death by traumatic head injury.
Should have locked up this scum for the rest of his life.

He obviously didn’t pay much attention to the Brian Murphy case…
Hope he gets a suitable experience in prison.

>She noted he was a good sportsman
Why is being a “sportsman” always considered a factor in somebody’s favour in these things? Some of the biggest thugs I’ve known were into sports, some nice people too. It’s got absolutely no bearing on somebody’s morality.

He denied kicking the guy in the head even when witnesses said he did and cctv proved it. Lying bastard should have got a far longer sentence

6 years, of which you can probably knock off a quarter or maybe a third for the “good behaviour”.
He’ll be ready to resume his life before he is 30 despite kicking a man to death.

Genuine question, when someone like this is released from prison do they have any quality of life? Get a job, etc. 6 years seems fairly short for what happened.

fekin eijit should have joined the GAA before the headkicking and he would have got away with a handslap and a lollipop

There’s 0 justice in Ireland. I don’t know how anybody at all looks at these sentences and thinks “yeah that’s fair”
I’d never trust the system to seek justice for any loved ones harmed. I’m suprised more don’t take it for themselves

Wonder if it’s an easy out for jury duty by just saying you’re a contributor to r/ireland

Absolutely disgusting
>In passing sentence at the Central Criminal Court, Ms Justice Caroline Biggs said the prosecution had argued that Calvin Dunne had taken “a running kick” at 29-year-old Dylan McCarthy while he was on the ground, but having viewed the CCTV footage again, the judge said that it seemed to her to be “a one-stride kick” that made contact to the head.
In the years after of that poor family trying to seek justice, all the Late Late appearances, the law changed, that kicking someone in the head while on the ground would be an automated murder charge, with a minimum sentence, but “at the judge’s discretion.”
Oh how fucking failed the legal system is in Ireland to the normal every day people and their families.
Today, twenty-five years later after the death of Brian Murphy, a young man now age 25, getting a six year sentence, for a crime when he was 21.
The legal system failed then, and still is.
Sidenote: That wiki has been gutted of all of what used to be there, the court cases, the defendants getting off scot free.
