Hampshire, was delivering mail to a property with two dogs – one of which she was concerned had an aggressive temperament.
“The dog jumped up at me and bit me three times just above the right knee. When I looked down, I could see the flesh on my leg hanging,” she said.
She started screaming which caused the owner and his daughter to come rushing out. “I also startled the dog as it ran back into the house. I had to do my own first aid as the man and his daughter were crying,” she recalled.
That man should be in jail. Bitch.

I’m sure my dogs on this list. He goes for anything that comes through the letterbox. Even got a letter from the royal mail saying they were going to refuse to deliver.
Stop putting your fingers through the letter box.
Anyway the next day he’d got a war trophy. They have these little plastic things they use to post the letters. He’d got one. Got a knock on the door the next day from the postie asking for it back.

What was the previous baseline?
And seeing as every other household got a puppy during pandemic restrictions, and those dogs will be about 5years old now, I was wondering if there was any form of correlation

Years ago I was working on cases brought by the unions against home owners for dogs biting posties. Saw some horrific mangled hands and life changing injuries. Also saw a lot of court orders enforced against dog owners forcing them to sell their homes to pay the damages and costs. Maybe some of the only enforced cost orders that didn’t feel unjust.

How hard is it to make sure the dog is secure before opening the front door.

There are a lot of people out there who simply aren’t qualified to own a dog. Dogs need to be trained, socialised and given regular exercise. I’d bet many of these attacks are from dogs who are kept cooped up indoors alone all day and bored out of their minds, maybe taken for a 5 minute trot around the pavement on the lead if they’re lucky.
You shouldn’t be leaving your dog at home unattended on its own for 9 hours while you’re at work, it’s not designed for it. And they must be walked for a good distance. But short-sighted people who bought the dogs in the pandemic and have been forced back into the office don’t have any other choice. Remember the 5 freedoms of animal welfare?
In an ideal world there could be some kind of mandatory welfare training before you could buy a dog to explain their needs and the responsibility you take on by owning an intelligent animal that can live for 10-15 years, but with our current crumbling society I don’t think the resources exist to enact and enforce such a thing.
